Local Noise

NOTE: I've finally converted all these to lovely, lovely, uncompressed AIFFs! Now there's a format we don't abuse nearly as much as we should. Did you know you can even embed musical instrument definitions in AIFFs and play tunes with them? Cool! Anyhue, I've done my best to rid these sounds of all pops, clicks, and other annoying artifacts. Enjoy!

IMPORTANT: You'll need the QuickTime web browser plug-in, included with QuickTime to hear these sounds within your browser. Incidentally, SoundApp is the ultimate Mac sound util and will have no trouble playing these offline if you care to download them.

• The Grinch Song
  At long last, I have here the one and only Grinch Song from the motion picture version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It's in MP3 format, so I hope you have something that'll play those. Version 4.0 or better of the QuickTime Player will do it; SoundApp (see above) will do it better.
  
• We Are Marcy
  This recording was done back when Miss Marcy, my history teacher, was assimilated by the Borg. To this day, advanced placement remains futile.
  
• 106 Miles to Chicago clip
  Simply a classic. This is the famous line from The Blues Brothers that happens right before the wildest chase scene in all of motion picture history. "It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses." Gotta love it.

  The weirdest, wackiest medley of cartoony sounds you'll ever hear.
  
• The Essence of Microsoft
  Bill's words accidentally got a tad twisted.
  
• Gunshots
  A huge gunfight from The Blues Brothers.
  
• Suffered Enough
  "I don't know about you, but I've suffered enough." From A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, a great Broadway show.
  
• Marching Up & Down the Square 1
  "Now, today we're going to do marching up and down the square! That is, unless any of you got anything better to do!" British drill sergeant screaming at the top of his lungs. Absolutely hilarious! This is Fall Down the Stairs material! From Monty Python's The Meaning of Life

• Weekend Off
  That GREAT Will Smith line from Independence Day: "This was supposed to be my weekend off, but nooooo. You got me out here, dragging yo' heavy ass through the burnin' desert with yo' dreadlocks stickin' out the back of my parachute." Et cetera, et cetera.
